Piffaro, The Next Generation
Piffaro’s new youth competitions, electronic media and internet happenings, and community celebrations and events are building the next generation of Early Music lovers and performers, as well s researchers, historians and leaders.
Piffaro Protégés identifies and mentors new talent and thought leaders in the field, as well as celebrates the dedicated beginner and burgeoning amateur. Each month, we’ll feature a Piffaro Protégé profile in which the recipient, whether expert or beginner, will tell about his/her studies, research, performances and love of this fantastic music.

REN Today articles are helping to build connections to Renaissance history and life. This series features contributors who write on how they notice Renaissance-based threads of culture, fashion, music, history, and… well… just about anything… in our world today. Does Gesualdo’s compositional style appear in contemporary country music? Do the boots you bought off the rack last season resemble 17th century Venetian high waters? Move over Lady Gaga — it’s Ren Today.

Anyone who has attended a Piffaro Philadelphia performance has been enthralled with Piffaro’s program notes. They’re a magical mix of a graduate education and a romp through the entertaining, golden nuggets of social, historical and musical fact of the day. Scholars’ Corner, our website’s library reading room, will house program and event notes from over the years — a veritable storeroom of fun and fascinating information written in only the way Bob and Joan could. Watch for our final release of our website by 1 December 2010, and there, you’ll be able to walk the hollowed stacks.
